Junior corps end season in style.

The curtain has come down on an extreemly challenging and hugely rewarding season for the Junior corps. We entered the "Ouse Valley" competition in september knowing that if results didn`t go well it would be the end of our season. However not only did we make finals but came in 2nd place and won 3 captions, guard, brass and music. This gave the whole corps such a lift and from then on this group of youngsters turned into a corps. Every rehearsal was well attended and the workrate was top drawer.

All to soon finals day arrived and we travelled to Coventry leaving home at 5.30am in pouring rain. This was the tone of the day weather wise and when we marched onto the arena there were puddles everywhere on the field. The corps marched onto that field with extreem pride and totally exceeded anyones expectations on the day, with by far and away the peformance of the year and everyone came off of the field knowing that they had done their absolute best. The results were dissapointing to drop a place and not pick up a trophy, however to put the corps into competition and just make finals was a far dream 9 months before. Everyone at Cadence is very proud of our first season in competition.

Plans are well advanced for 2009. The first rehearsal was held last Thursday 16th October and the retention of members is very high with new members on board to.

Looking back 2008 has been a very step learning curve for everyone involved with the corps and we are all looking forward to 2009....

Cadet Corps moves home!

As from Tuesday 9th September, the cadet corps will practice at "Bellfields Youth & Community Centre", Hazel Avenue, Bellfields, Guildford.

This has come about as a result of rising costs at Guildford Grove School. We were losing £25/30 most weeks with a membership if 45! "The facilities at Bellfields are extreemly good and the price is too! Paul Newman said. "This will be great for the cadet corps as around 8/9 children already live on the Bellfields estate and it will give many more local children the chance to be a part of our great cadet corps".

New members are very welcome on the 9th to fill the holes left by the members who have made it into the Junior Corps for the 2009 season. Exciting times at Cadence
